A portrayal of the Croatian capital and its identity loss in the time of recession.
The observational documentary film about Zagreb, i.e. the part of it that is only just emerging, speaks about the Croatian capital city from an utterly wondrous, shifted visual perspective in which the sentimental verses of Zagreb's masters of light music and nostalgic memories from our parents' and grandparents' black and white photographs gave place to today's relentlessly cold and poignant image of Zagreb's landscape. The newly built residential complex of Novi Jelkovec represents a paradigm of the contemporary paradise. The paradise, however, does not reach its full potential without the envisaged inhabitants and their daily activities. The author as a contemporary of the making of a large new space in an old city wishes to register its transitional period, the period in which the possibilities are still endless, the perspective of liveliness and loneliness exchange, and the outcome is unpredictable! There are songs, novels, films about lonely people at a turning point in their lives. This is a film about such a city.
